Seems like quite a few people think the graphics are "ugly." To be fair, they don't look anything like what was promised in the concept art, but the final version of any game rarely does. I'm with you though, I think it looks fine. I'm actually really looking forward to Mighty No. 9, very disappointed by the delay.
