last year october the xb1 sold only 170k units. if the xb1 won't sell over 3.5 million, i eat a crow :D |
The mistake is that you don't only should see the line up of this year, but even of LAST year... Now, if we see the line up of this year, Halo is seriusly the only megaton of XBO... and will be huge, ok, but the rest... i mean... Tomb Raider can sell decent, but for decent i mean DECENT. is not a sistem seller.
Last year XBO got CoD AW and AC unity.
Unity has sold not much, but the point is that the bundle was insane. 320$ + 3 games during Black Friday!!! Call of Duty Advanced Warfare was even a important note of the massive XBO sales, it sold nearly 1.5 million only on the XBO. Black Ops III, first, will sell less than AW, all version combined, and that's nearly inevitable, COD is in decline since MW3, that's why even BO III is going to sell less, and second, now is PS4 exclusives marketing... Also, don't forget the white XBO that help a lot.
Here my estimate of XBO sales in 2014. ( October and November)
That's only my guess, but seem about right or really close, how you can see, the XBO has sold 168k in the intere month of October, and 75k the last week ( confirmed by Phil Spencer: XBO beat PS4 the last week of October, and the PS4 sold 297k that month, nearly double).
I believe the sales for this year will be some like:
31 October: 200,000 ( Halo 5 week )
7 Nov: 175,000 ( Black Ops III )
14 Nov: 180,000 ( Fallout 4, Tomb Raider)
21 Nov: 180,000 ( Battlefront )
28 Nov: 600,000 (Black Friday)
November: 1,135,000
I want say 1.15 million XBO sold in November. ( down by 90k compared to Nov 2014, 1.24m )
I also believe that XBO will be down for September. Last year was Destiny, this year is nothing, because MGS V is nothing on XBO, and Forza / Fifa sell good in Europe, not in the US. The rest ( Oct, Aug, Jul) will be up.
