Doesn't matter. Perception is reality and thanks to advertising exclusivity they can point to any random 3rd party game, declare it a exclusive, and drop the massive advertising campaign for it. Just look at what they did for Destiny and Watchdogs if you want examples. Then declare said 3rd party game better on PlayStation and cash the check. Look at what they are doing for No Mans Sky. Its a indie and Sony fans are treating it as a exclusive. It doesn't matter that NMS and FF7 and Shenmue and SF5 and Persona 5 and almost every other game is multiplat. Sony can treat any 3rd party game as a exclusive and its a win. Sony has this generation in the bag and outside of some disastrous PR fiasco there is no wrong they can do. |
I have a question, since you're talking about exclsive marketing and the effects it has, how is this any different than what Microsoft does????
Batman: Arkham Knight and Destinty are two games that I have seen multiple people assume was a PS4 exclusive from TV ads. How is Microsoft doing the same thing with COD (before this year), Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Tom Clancy's The Division any different than that? Sony treating FF7 or SF5 as an exclusive isn't any different than MS treating Titanfall or Rise of the Tomb Raider as an exclusive.
