I got an idea first I saw the wii u as it got revelead. Do you guys know the tv-serieos Yugioh. it was popular 10-15 years ago.
Its a card game where the players can summon their monsters in the real world. They are using a device where they can place their cards. It does look like this:
The Wii U Gamepad could perfectly be used similar as this Device.
So your playing the normal cardgame just on the wii u gamepad. The Tv will show the summoned monsters, and if you attack they will fight. So the TV would be like the real world in the series.
Wii U gamepad = cardgame only TV = Battles in real action, effects and co
Considering how sucsessfull a game like Hearthstone is, i think this could be very sucsessfull as well if done right (online multiplayer and co)

Would be even better with 2 Gamepads, and the TV lying on the ground in between the 2 Players. No better way to play the Anime-Style battles.
