It released with a lack of content no voice chat and an okay single player mode. To give it game of the GENERATION already when we're not even half way through is incredibly bold. There are quite a few games on Wii U alone that would be a better contender than Splatoon.

voicechat doesnt make any sense if you play international with random people from japan, NA, europe and co.

It does make sense if you play with friends though.

But tbh the wii u unfortunaly isnt really made for voice chat. There is now party chat, most people that do use wii u voice chat are using the gamepads microphone which is awfull.

Even if the game would offer voicechat I would still just use skype/teamspeak/mumble and co on my smartphone, instead using the terrible gamepads quality or getting a headset that does work with the wii u just for splatoon.

Even on most PC games (counter strike and co) that does offer voicechat, most people prefer using teamspeak and co.

The real disadvantage on the wii u´s side is, that the system doesnt offer a party chat system for the whole system and every game. That would make me probl buying a headset for the wii u to use voice chat serious. But just for spaltoon it just wouldnt make much sense.

The game now does have more then enough content and new content still get released for free. Dont see the problem. I also did like the "content over time" model. Nothing was released unfinished, most of the content was on disc anyway. So it wasnt a "rush decission" but a "gamedesign decission" and it worked.
