The Wii U is great consoles - amazing collection of games - full backward compatibility to Wii - eshop to access indie games and classic NES, SNES, N64 & wii games. The WiiU biggest issues was Nintendo failures to get third party to support the console. The biggest problem is consumers buy the WiiU mainly to play Nintendo games and are contents with Nintendo's offering. Nintendo own success has a publisher can be attributed for the lack of third party support.
For the amount of hours and the numbers of games I own on the WiiU there no reason for me to feel betrayed. Unless, I can transfer all my WiiU and virtual games on the NX, I'll be keeping the WiiU consoles around for years to come.
I hope that with the NX, Nintendo change their approach and stop trying to lure third party but instead open up their consoles to indie and build a bigger second party house to support the consoles. I don't think that NX need to be a portable consoles that merge their handheld and home consoles. But, every handheld game should be playable and available on the NX eshops. That way a handheld new release will also be a new release for the NX. Every handheld game should be cross-buy between consoles and handheld. The new pokemon even if it was for handheld would be promoted has a 3ds and NX.
I like the Wii U but I think the console could used a graphical upgrade and I hope to play the new Zelda game on the NX next year.
