30M developement, 20M marketing, 50M to pay the reviewers... Seriously, GTA 4 was suppored to score high, if you consider the score of the previous GTA games, and i think nobody was expecting low score. There's also a few things that definately have had effect on the rating, such as EA planning to take over Take Two (which nobody wants to see to happen), Wii Fit blowing everything out of the water and the same thing that propably had effect on OoT score too, being one of the last "hardcore" games when the winning competition was going fast forward with its "casual" titles, same thing that can be seen in a number of other reviews too. The last stand of "hardcore". So i wouldn't talk about conspiracy, but a normal psychological defensive mechanism.

I actually see it the other way around...

Nintendo games get high scores because they have a nintendo logo on them.

I rented smash brothers when I heard the reveiws. I never liked the older ones (which mostly averaged a 6.5/10 in reviews) but when I heard it has over 9 I thought maybe they got this right...nope, still the same crappy game.

And as far as mario Kart...I am in shock people are liking this game this much. Its a 3 hour gaming experience. I beat everything in 3 hours which weren't that fun at all. If nintendo had a decent online, I'd try it online but otherwise its a 7 out of 10 for me and thats being generous.

Nintendo once used to be truly great and on top of their game. But these days they get the one blind eye treatment every time because the games run on a less powerful console and because everyone has a boner for Mario. If a nintendo game does 480p and widescreen it automatically gets "looks nice...9 out of 10 for graphics" If a ps3 game does this it would get a 4...

As far as GTA4 is concerned, it is not a perfect game or a 10/10. But a game like this takes more effort, planning, people and money to produce than 5 of the best nintendo wii games. And when it comes together as good as it does in GTA4, the reviewers have no choice but to give it 10/10.

That's pretty hardcore, since it takes a lot more than 3 hours just to drive all the cups, not to mention that you managed 3 stars from every cup, beat all the staff ghosts in time trial etc... Congrats, that's pretty awesome. I think it's good that you didn't try the online, since i bet that playing the fourth hour would have resulted you to drive unbeatable world record times in every track. I agree about the online, that it isn't decent, it's great, something that Sony and M$ should learn from. I think we all are familiar with your trolling about games you haven't even played. :D
