I guess it all depends on how well they advertise and push the game.
There's definitely some hype behind this game, with the snippets of gameplay we've seen at directs and the treehouse events, and the series does have decent publicity, thanks to things like the inclusion of Shulk in Smash Bros. (even though he won't be in X.)
If Nintendo pushes X as hard as they did with Splatoon, then I think it will do very well.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
