So you're estimating 500k PS4s sold from september to december? That's not optimistic.
If the PS4 sells 20k average per week from the beggining of september to the end of November (it's currently selling 17k a week in the slowest period of the year, and it has Metal Gear Solid) it'll have sold 260k before september starts, and if it then sells the same as it did last holiday, it'll have sold 430k in sep-dec, and that's the minimum, so claiming 2.2 million is optimistic is already hyperbole, regardless of whether Sony cuts the price or not.

July is not the slowest period of the year lol It's holiday season now. You can check here how hardware usually performs:

The slowest months in Japan are May, June, September and October (non-holiday season).
Also, note that PS4 is being bundled with Bloodborne for free at the monent in Japan (summer campaign).
