In its only two shows of the year, MS didn't make any significant new game announcements?

we knew MS bought the franchise and we knew who was making it. but we didnt know what the game was exactly. it could have been called gears mega shit heads for all we know. Gears 4 was announced during E3. try finding an official announcement of "Gears 4" or "Gears of War 4" before E3 and you wont find any. 

There is a difference between knowing that another [insert existing franchise name here] is in the works, and knowing that GG is working on something that isn't KZ and also probably not FPS. One can always assume that any studio not working on an announced game is working on an unannounced game, therefore no game announcement is new since we know studios are always doing something. 

Having said that, if this is the first time Gears 4 has been explicitly mentioned and shown, then it's as much of an announcement as it is possible to have for this franchise.
