I'll explain it for him. Before the timeskip IchiRuki had a pretty good chance of happening. However, after seeing everything that has happened since then, I'm convinced—and happy—that Ichihime has a greater chance of happening. Kubo keeps on bring up the fact that Orihime has feelings for Ichigo (i.e. Orihime vision when delivering bread, her feeling pain (crying) at Ichigo's struggles even when she lost her memory because of Tsukishima, the fact that Yoruichi, Chad and Urahara made Ichigo comment on Orihime's new dress, etc.). If Kubo wanted to go the IchiRuki route he could have easily written out Orihime's feelings after the timeskip but he didn't. If anything it's hinted at even more now. There's also the fact that Ichigo has spent much more time with Orihime than Rukia after the timeskip.
