I'd argue it died at the beginning of that arc, when Kishi starting pushing all the prophecy crap down our throats. It completely ruined the underdog story that made the manga appealing in the first place. It only got worse when it was revealed Nardo came from a clan of Super Saiyans...and was descended from the strongest character in the universe. *facepalms

Pain really should have been the final villain. I honestly can't remember anything I'd recommend after that arc.
