Looking at the AMD road map its an incredible time for them with regard a huge improvement in cpu performance and better integrated gpu's. I think 2016 it is quite possible for Nintendo to be the first to make a console based on this improved architecture and its already been released that AMD is working on a console which is most likely the Nintendo NX.

I think improved cpu performance over ps4 and xbone is something very easy to achieve in 2016 that is a no brainer even for a low cost console.

GPU performance I think will be less possibly around 800 gflops to 1 teraflop.

I think Nintendo will go with 8GB of DDR3 memory.

There wont' be a hard drive but I'm hoping for a internal hard drive bay so you can add your own.

End result is a console capable of running all games the ps4 and xbone run but perhaps without qute as good graphics. However in cpu performance the console will offer superior power.

I honestly think surpassing ps4 and xbone cpu performance is relatively easy. They never pushed the envelope in that regard and it would be quite easy for 4 cores of the next AMD generation to be effectively more powerful than the ps4's 8 much weaker cores. Also 4 cores is a lot easier to program than 8.

Also bear in mind that the new AMD architecture is on a 14nm fabrication process so all this can be achieved in a console of wii or wii u size without needing much cooling hardware. So the NX could be both small and powerful unlike the wii u that used a 40/45nm fabrication process so was severely limited in performance by its compact size.

Of course this is theory is based on a Nintendo being clever enough to realise that AMD's new tech is just what they need a very low cost powerful platform for gaming.
