PS3 prices are low because they are sold for little/no profit, with the aim of making up for it with game sales.
The same isn't true for standalone players, as the companies that make the players and movies are completely seperate.
I'm really not bothered about blu ray, the only movies i really enjoy are made on a budget of $10 so blu ray is of little advantage
