How will the main series Pokemon games evolve combat next generation?

Id like to be able to have multiple sets on one pokemon. Double battle set, contest set, single battle set ect.
It's annoying having to make three different of the same pokemon for each battle type.
I don't see them making any major changes to the core battle system to be honest. That's what pokken is for I'd say.
