I'm a DC fan. I like em both, though. My love for DC started with Super Friends, the live action Wonder Woman, and Adam West's Batman. My love for Marvel began with Secret Wars in the 80's.

I know a fuck ton about both and love, love, LOVE their epic crossover stories. Haven't bought much of either since the beginning of New 52 and AvX, though m. The hobby just got too expensive.

Secret Wars is a great way to start. A good choice.

The story after AvX for Marvel have been in my view poor. I mean nothing changed in the X-men and Hickman is throwing up on everything else.

It is too expensive though, I'm down to 3 books a month, well come October none. Don't like Marvel's new direction of taking what made them big and going down the wrong route and following their movie stuff too much. Thank god for Saga and BKV.

One thing I don't know his I feel about; Marvels characters were supposed to be flawed and relatable. These days, guys like Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, etc are waaaaaaaay too powerful. DC characters were over powered and bland. They've done a good job of bringing them down to earth since the early 90s but how many times can reality be destroyed!?! It's like they borrow from each other.

Hulk has never been more than just Hulk, the recent big moment was Planet Hulk and the whole idea of that was very clever, ending with World War Hulk. It got a bit silly after that as everyone and their mum got Hulk like powers. Ironman is stale because of movies and Wolverine... well that murderer has been going too long, we both know that. He hasn't had charactersation since Claremont wrote him.

With DC, the folding and reboot cycle they do is odd but characters like Flash and other still stay strong.

Hmm, pie.
