The PS4 and XBO ports also come out months or years after the 360 and PS3 versions... doesn't keep them from selling well.

Sure they have if they are interested in third party games... that happens if the owner of the Wii and Wii U platform ain't pursuing good relations to third parties for many years and has a "build it and they will come" attitude.
