I use to play with my friends using the banned cards too because they were the most fun, tho some banned cards are pretty broken.  But I also think the new ways to play are also pretty broken with the syncro and xyz summons, it just makes special summons a joke compared to the original way.

I mainly think they banned cards because if they didn't then nobody would be buying the new ones because everybody would just be sticking with banned ones and nothing else really lol

Good point lol and YES the new special summoning system is just crazy! You can literally special summon with nothing....and get some powerful mosters with good effects at that from nothing. I tis crazy and super broken lol.
