Your right but what one  CAN do and what one SHOULD do are two different things. For instance it's legal for the cops to take 10,000 dollars from me if they pull me over. I then have to go to court and prove I earned this money legitmately. The cops have the right to do this but should they be doing this? My answer is no it's only further destroying the trust between the cops and the community (something many cops have said the drug war did as well).

There were numerous laws against blacks that later had to be over turned. My point is that simply having the legal right to do something does not make it morally right.

I'm sorry but where are you getting this from? Based on what I've read, police can't search your car nor search your person during a traffic stop. They can pat you down in search of weapons but they can't stick a hand into your pocket.

btw, what are you doing carrying 10,000 dollars in cash?

It is actually illegal to carry more than 10,000 on you in cash without some purpose or proof that it was legally earned. Why I have no clue but I do know it is illegal and if the cop chooses the money can be confiscated and you have to go to court to prove the money is not illegal and get it back...

Also you are correct without probable cause a cop can not search your or your car without your consent.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...
