I think you're the one with little understanding of a contract as depending on the contract the terms vary, they have a contract to publish his games on release but its his franchise, he probably has the option to take it to someone else if SE don't want to publish but then they would gift someone else a tonne of money doing so. The contract may even just be that they be the first choice as a publisher, I know as I deal with contracts often working in business and finance, believe me if the higher ups were in charge you wouldn't even see DQ on a Nintendo platform to begin with, you probably wouldn't even see a PS4 version at this point.
As for the rest of your post, that's the usual "I can't really argue against it " type of response. What I said is plausible as why mention NX at all in the presentation, the PR comes across as an attempt to cover up their slip up.
