The argument you're trying to go for would lead to this scenario hence BC, a dedicated handheld would not have android or anything because Nintendo's handhelds perform just fine and the's little reason to change things especially with the competition drying up, it's the console side of things that constantly change for Nintendo. This would mean the same type of architecture as well meaning easier BC, android would make no sense in this regard, why reuse assets when BC already does that, even with a different architecture if a 3DS successor had Vita like power it would be able to emulate the predecessor as the jump in power would be more then enough to do so. You know why X1 is unlikely to get a version? 95% of DQ fans are in Japan, the was a rule with the franchise that the best selling platform is where the franchise would go. I'll bet you 1000 quid in what ever currency NX outsells X1 in Japan, MS themselves would have to step in to bring DQ to X1. |
I am indeed suggesting the BC is done for. My total speculation, based only on recent trends in Japan, leads me to think this NX might be a sort of a Nintendo smartphone/handheld hybrid.
The shrinking handheld market in Japan with an ever growing smartphone market would explain why this android nx rumor. It would be basically Nintendo finding a solution to turn handheld gaming more 'mainstream'.
This would be compatible with the aging 3DS and need to replace that old tech (much older than Wii U), the android rumors, and somehow at least give it a chance for those 20M units Nintendo apparently wants to sell for the 1st year.
I could be wrong, but i don't think I am. time will tell
edit: just wanted to add the recent partnership between Nintendo and DeNa to move nintendo into the smartphone game business shouldn't be ignored. I would say it's more evidence to support my hypothesis
