I consider Retro and Monolith second party. Nintendo didn't create those studios... they bought them. Just like Naught Dog for Sony and Bungie with Microsoft. Those studios existed before they were purchased by these big companies.

Whether you consider them second party or not, it doesn't mean you are correct. They are part of Nintendo just as ND is part of Sony and any other studio is part of its parent, just like Bioware to EA.
