It reminded me most of the original Iron Man. Self contained for the most part and a story that focused on characters and a small story rather than being epic. That said, the third act had some pretty spectacular fighting and visuals.
This falls into the "good" category for me. Nothing truly remarkable to stand out as something special, but I, along with every I saw it with, enjoyed it. The casting was great and lot of chuckle type humor and pacing made the whole film fly by so even the slower training bits never dragged.
