seriously, what are you talking about?

1. we are in the middle of the current gen (wii u,ps4,x1) NOW, in 2017 it will be close to the end of it. what imaginary subpar console are you talking about? I already said the wii u sucessor (may or may not be NX) wouldn't bother with ps4/x1 level of power, it will be much higher.

2. It's very ignorant to say nintendo doesn't diversify their IP outside mario and zelda. every gen they make tons of games from the biggest and smallest franchises while trying new IPs.

3. 3rd party alone does deliver sales, it's that simple. we just can't expect 3rd parties to sell without releasing anything.

4. The wiimote wasn't a typical controller because it lacked some buttons but the gamepad IS a normal controller. nothing is loved by ALL gamers, but you can bet many hardcore gamers love the wii. Of course you can play a ton of games with the wiimote and nunchuck, what kind of question is that? a pro controller was released for virtual console games the wii mote and nunchuck couldn't play (because of buttons) and dual analogue for some wii games.

5. That's not what the hardcore gamer wants, it's simply what gamers got so far. Gamers want what is best. If something better shows up, gamers will prefer it, just like they prefered current controllers over the ones from previous generations. For example, a controller more or less shaped like a pro controller but it's actually two halfs that act as a wiimote and nunchuck is infinetely better than what currently exists. It would have the buttons that wiimote and nunchuck lacked and could be put together when motion controls aren't required.

The theoretical gamepad you described would certainly cost much less than the first one at wii u's launch.

6. really, check your facts. it was never mentioned they couldn't cut the console price because of the gamepad (that doesn't even make sense). iwata said they couldn't cut the price so far because of the yen, but that was a few months ago and it's very possible that a pricecut will come this year.

1. the Wii U is on its 3rd year and it is coming to its end with a speculation on its 4th year or the norm 5th year. X1 and PS4 released a year after. and their consoles normally are 6-7 years apart. so NX would really be on its early stage while PS4 and X1 may not yet in its last 2 years...

2. they are trying to diversify, but the effort seems lackluster hence they need other devs or SMEs on those genre rather than Nintendo alone and their small dev teams doing those M games which doesn't really sale a ton....

3. 3rd party games can sell, but 3rd party games on a Nintendo couldn't sell that much. besides power or being a lesser port/version. what else does Nintendo need on their console..... so collaborate and discuss what is needed. not just a 3rd party IP on a Nintendo console that couldn't really sell. create a new IP, crossover IPs, etc... be creative..

4. it is really a mix, of course wii would always be a blast on college students or anyone who wanted to play those motion control type of games. casual playing, but not your typical immersive 50 hour gameplay a gamer needs to put into. hence Nintendo released a classic controller on Wii.

5. i don't know what else gamers need to really play a game. if you create a poll or survey, you really think innovative controllers would their top pick to use for gaming? it would really hard to sell other type of controller. most gamers use the PS4/X1/Pro Controller for most games and Mouse and Keyboard on PC gaming especially shooters.

6. it was one of the articles about Nintendo's interview... and yes i remember the yen part too. will try to find the articles related to that one.

1. You really need to check history if you think ps/sony consoles last 6/7 years. besides last generation, only ps consoles really lasted exactly 6 years before being replaced, but those consoles released first. since ps4 released one year later than wii u and together with x1, we can expect a ps5 one year later than wii u's sucessor and again together with the next xbox. As, for speculation, its really useless when there's no information. Without oficcial claims, everything points to a wii u sucessor in 2017 and x1/ps4 in 2018. sony technically could wait untill 2019 but I don't think microsoft will wait that long and sony will follow them.

2. "Nintendo alone" has a lot of franchises and most are being used. there's no lackluster effort if every console gets dozens of quality titles besides mario and zelda.

3. What? of course 3rd party can sell "that much". new ips/crossovers are already being made and when you mentioned colaborations you talked about multiplatforms. exclusive collaborations are always being made.

4. No, the classic controller was mostly for VC. Wiimote + nunchuck was good already.

5.Gamers use those controllers pecause it's the only thing they have. But that's not what they want. they want the best, so they won't be opposed if something better shows up, like the evolved wiimote + nunchuck I described.

6. Yes, it was just the yen. I bet we'll see a pricecut this year.
