I honestly don't even think Miyamoto is as hands on that project as he would be back in the day when he was more developer then executive. From all intents purposes his biggest contribution is being upper management and either coming up with or approving the addition of the Gamepad mechanics like the cinematic TV screen view and cockpit for the gamepad or the gyrowing with the remote control robot.

His increased responsibility won't and moving away from development won't hurt the game, heck it might even allow some of the developers to make it a more challenging and traditional experience.
