As a fan of the entire franchise the boost in sales clearly came from Paul Walker passing away. Nothing about the 7th movie put it leaps and bounds ahead of the rest. The real question is now how well can F&F8 hold up without Paul Walker and without the buzz.

That's what I'm looking forward to as well. Fast & Furious 6 did approximately $780 million. It'll be interesting to see if the next movie will sell near that amount.
