I think Guardians of the Galaxy was the first risky venture for the MCU. I mean, I legitimately had no idea who the Guardians of the Galaxy were supposed to be prior to buying my movie ticket. I just heard it was good and went off the hype alone and it ended up being a great movie.

Ant-Man is definitely riskier though since he just isn't a very exciting hero, and they basically put the source material through a shredder and just used the bits and pieces they could figure out after, which is sure to put fans of the comics off. I'm somewhat interested, but I still don't know if I'm going to bother with seeing this one in theaters unless I hear it is just omg good (AKA, the reason I watched Mad Max: Fury Road).
