Also, while maybe not the best games to start the franchise with (not saying they're bad either, all Pokémon games are quite novice-friendly), you have to eventually try out the B/W and B2/W2 games. I think those are a must. They were very memorable games with a really solid story when compared to previous Pokémon titles. I wasn't ever too fond of Pokémon's shift in storytelling from gen 3 onwards when they started to try to be all epic and stuff while still retaining the old formula - it always felt weird and out of place. However, for gen 5 and gen 5 only, they changed it up and made it work. That said, I still liked the story in X/Y quite a bit. |
