I hope you don't mind me snipping. I agree with your points. Alpha 3 at the arcades when it came out here was more or less people picking A-ism Akuma and abusing his hurricane kick and dragon punch combo. I didn't see any vs with the game though so I can't comment on the arcade version just saw the Akuma abuse against a CPU. I only really played the crap out of the PSX version cause that's all I had available (Didn't get a Dreamcast or Saturn until somewhat recently and even then I only ordered the titles from ebay a few days ago) so I didn't really see the V-ism stuff until recently when I went to go look it up and saw some tournament fights on youtube. From what I saw, it wasn't really too OP. Can be annoying, but it didn't look unmanageable. Hell I saw an A-ism Zangief player destroy all the V-ism fighters. Thing is; people really complain about the console ports of Alpha 3 because they neutered the V-ism stuff that you mention. I personally agree that no fighting game should have infinites. It's why Marvel vs Capcom 2 is the second worst fighting game I've played. So people complain about Alpha 3 for no reason and the logical thing to complain about; the V-ism brokeness, is what they trash the console ports for fixing. I honestly don't get the fighting game community sometimes. I guess the nostalgia goggles make people like Alpha 2 better for the community, I personally didn't see it cause Alpha 3 at its core is so much better. Somewhat as an aside, I still think Alpha 3 to this day, has the best presentation of any Capcom fighter. The countdown timer till the match starts, the visual aesthetics, the announcer, the fade ins and outs from battle (The ism logos inbetween matches), etc. I hope Street Fighter 5 can have that level of aesthetics, but it doesn't look like it.
