First, the fact that the PS3 cost more and is outselling the 360 EVERYWHERE, including NA the last few weeks goes to show the 360 has no momentum. And a price cut would not make it "unstoppable", as mentioned in other posts MS can barely make money on in their entertainment divsion, a $100 price cut (America dollar is already becoming worthless) would screw them over, and also as others said, Sony sure as hell isn't going to sit by and give a "Atta boy!" to MS. Sony has much more room to cut costs of the PS3 than the 360. Simply put, if the 360 get's a $100 pricecut, Sony will follow, maybe with a WORLDWIDE pricecut, which would really screw MS over. There is no way for the 360 to build up "unstoppable" momentum anywhere.

How in the hell does MS's profitability influence consumers' decisions? Exactly, it doesn't.
People need to stop assuming that just because [if] Microsoft cuts prices then Sony will immediately follow. Remember that their games division barely turned a profit last quarter too, and I bet 10 bucks to a nickel that what little they made wasn't from PS3 hardware. Combine that with the weak dollar and they would be bleeding money in the NA market.
With that said, I think they propbably will cut prices this year, but it will not be until the holidays to try to make a massive hardware push, but it will only be a modest 50$. I also doubt MS will cut off a full 100$ because that would eliminate their profits as well, and that is their bih talking point to investors and the board of trustees at this point. Expect a 50$ cut, probably near the end of Q3.
