Why did Dreamcast have a record launch if their fans were so pissed?

The Dreamcast was pretty much the console that Sega needed at the time. Fans were pissed, but the Dreamcast helped to fix the situation. Sony's reputation in the industry and the PS2 ended the Dreamcast.
