Twilight Princess was the only mainline Zelda I felt was lacking. It was much less fun than any of the others, as well as the ugliest and least memorable.

Well Eiji Aonuma said he wanted to make a Zelda aimed at the Western audience because of semi-disappointing Wind Waker sales. We wanted Ocarina of Time 2.0 and that's pretty much what we got. Fans ate it up because it's one of the best selling Zelda games in the series.

Isn't windwaker the most successful with the highest ratio of console owners (gamecube) buying the game. Obviously the small user base limited it's overall sales but it still sold brilliantly well despite of this. Personally its my favourite Zelda I absolutely love the art style and feel of the game. In contrast I gave up on Twilight princess fairly early as it looked awful and it put me off.
