Prior to MS acquisition of Mojang, I think 1st parties published Minecraft just to make it easier on Mojang. They were a developer, not a console game publisher.

Assuming I'm reading what you're saying correctly, a game doesn't need to be published by a 1st party to get a physical and digital release.  I mean Ducktales Remastered is an example of that.

I'm not sure what the hold up is on putting Minecraft on Wii U or even 3DS. Perhaps MS could publish it as Mojang. Nintendo should definitely be seeking that game out, its a game that fits well with their audience.


I think Phil specifically said they aren't publishing anything for another console.
