While it seems splitscreen co-op / local MP is progressively becoming a thing of the past it is sad to see a franchise well known for its split-screen feature. It gives a game a great deal of longevity because you can play 4 person split-screen MP even when online multiplayer has died down (which probably isn't much of a problem for Halo, but still, it's the principle of the thing). And of course you can play MP off line this way, which means being able to have 4 person MP fun without XBL Gold....oh, now I see what's behind it. No local MP means longer subscriptions for people who only take up XBL Gold subs intermittently.

It's our fault. Despite consoles with 4 controllers becoming default, they slowly phased out couch multiplayer in multiple games, yet we still shelled out millions of dollars, which signifies to them "I guess this is ok".

I mean, Army of Two had to have its selling point be that you have local co-op/2 player teamwork. That's not something you do when local co-op is the standard, like it used to be.
