I just cannot stand the internal inconsistency of the whole Terminator franchise. The first movie was a full on, established stable closed time loop. Movie two chickens out of the closed time loop and opts for the Back to the Future approach to allow for more "happy" ending. Then movie three sorta goes back to the time loop. Then movie four affirms that re-commitment. And now, for no reason other than $$$, they jump to alternate dimensions. Personally, that's a huge problem for me with the whole series. Internal consistency is a huge element of good storytelling; disregarding it is an amateur mistake.
