Well they even use the same engine so I don't see the problem. Look at Rayman Legends, gorgeous looking 2D game that runs on 1080p 60fps on Wii U. I don't know if the PS4/XBONE versions look better, but the difference is very small at least. Please tell us why this game would be hard to port to the Wii U. It can't be the following: - Engine - Graphics - Level design - Size - the amount of stuff that appears on screen at once |
Rayman Legends also runs at 1080p at a consistent 60fps on 360 and PS3 with identical graphics but no gamepad functionality of course.
Most multiformat games run worse on wii u compared to 360 and PS3 and the realistic explanation for that is the very low cpu performance of the wii u which is much worse than 360 and PS3 due to only have 3 1.25ghz powerpc cores. Some graphic effects can be cpu intensive, the wii u gpu has an enhanced feature set compared to ps3 and 360 but the graphics effects in this game may not actually benefit from that and actually need higher cpu resources.
Both ps3 and 360 had surprisingly high cpu performance for their time and the upgrade in cpu performance with regard xbone and ps4 is not that huge although they do benefit from having 64bit processors not the 32bit processors of 360, ps3 and wii u. The wii u is on a lower cpu performance level and is best programmed from the ground up to get best results. I.e. games with lower cpu requirements.
If a developer is struggling on wii u most of the time its going to be cpu performance if the same game is also available on 360 and ps3.
Looking at videos clearly the game isn't a simple 2D game and does have some good effects. It may not have the beautiful artistic style of some Nintendo games but still looks good.
What do people actually believe is in the wii u that can deliver superior performance to the 360 and PS3? It's on the same low cost fabrication process as 360 and PS3 and uses far less power, it has less memory bandwidth, low cpu resources and a gpu we still aren't sure about but that we know has to make space for the original wii gpu for compatibility. Where exactly is this mystical extra performance meant to be coming from?

Also some of these games are lower resolution on wii u like sonic transformed or have missing detail or more obvious poppin on wii u where graphic assets don't appear until slightly later or not at all for minor detail.
