I think it's stupid that it's even a discussion. Him being black shouldn't be a talking point on either side. It's not "good for minorities." It's good for John Boyega. You know what's good for minorities? Not always bringing up insignificant shit like this. I'm black and the most fucking annoying thing in the world is the false idea that I need to be "represented."

Blacks don't need some starring role in a movie. Just because someone is a minor black character, doesn't mean they're "token" or a "stereotype" or stupid shit like that. I don't need anyones help to justify my race, so a black guy starring in a movie isn't some black "win." They are just another character with another skin color. You know what's racially insensitive? The prevalent thought process that one minor black character implies that all black people are now assumedly minor. There's one damsel in distress? Must mean the director is calling all women weak, right? One mean gay character? The director totally hates gays.

And now, suddenly one black guy gets a starring role, and it's a good thing because? Because all black people are strong and powerful leaders now? We're not individuals who have to earn leading roles based off our talents, but a race who needs to be represented entirely as something only a statistical fraction of ANY demographic would fit under. Exactly.

The sooner people stop making a big deal about shit like this, the sooner racism really ends. He's just a guy with a lead roll. Good for him. He alone earned it for he alone. That's where it ends.

Tell that to SJWs.
