I think it's stupid that it's even a discussion. Him being black shouldn't be a talking point on either side. It's not "good for minorities." It's good for John Boyega. You know what's good for minorities? Not always bringing up insignificant shit like this. I'm black and the most fucking annoying thing in the world is the false idea that I need to be "represented."

Blacks don't need some starring role in a movie. Just because someone is a minor black character, doesn't mean they're "token" or a "stereotype" or stupid shit like that. I don't need anyones help to justify my race, so a black guy starring in a movie isn't some black "win." They are just another character with another skin color. You know what's racially insensitive? The prevalent thought process that one minor black character implies that all black people are now assumedly minor. There's one damsel in distress? Must mean the director is calling all women weak, right? One mean gay character? The director totally hates gays.

And now, suddenly one black guy gets a starring role, and it's a good thing because? Because all black people are strong and powerful leaders now? We're not individuals who have to earn leading roles based off our talents, but a race who needs to be represented entirely as something only a statistical fraction of ANY demographic would fit under. Exactly.

The sooner people stop making a big deal about shit like this, the sooner racism really ends. He's just a guy with a lead roll. Good for him. He alone earned it for he alone. That's where it ends.

I agree 100% with everything you said. Racism is something I absolutely can't stand nor does it even make any sense. We are all human and we all share this planet together. We all have equal rights to be here and that is the bottom line. Exactly how does a persons race or gender makes anyone different? That's a question that no one has properly explained and is contradict by actual facts. A person is a person! Yet people don't see a different between the different species of cats or dogs and they are all represented as a cat or a dog and not "My orange cat is better than your black cat"! That is the stupidest remark ever, yet people seem to think it's acceptable to apply that judgement to humans when humans seem to call themselves the most intelligent and superior species in the universe. Oh and sorry to any Aliens whom may be offended by this lol XD Also last I checked Dolphins have higher brain capabilities than humans. Although it seems even something such as a gopher seems to be able to understand the differentiation of humans that a freaking human is even capable of doing. Should a Toxicroak judge a Psyduck because he's fucking retarded? Okay that is completely irrelevant but I had to say that! Back to the point this who thing is a stupid as that last remark.

A person is a person and every person has all the same rights. It's up to those individuals to choose how they wish to live their own lives. Choices can unjustly be judge based on their committed action but not their race or gender. Hey you're not exactly going to praise and asshole who stole your grandmas purse or fucked your woman.
