It isn't, first half of 2014 saw Yokai Watch become the monster its now (it sold close to 850k) other big releases then like Kirby 3DS, lasting legs of Pokemon, Monster Hunter 4 and what not made things much larger then.

Its better for consoles though, last year the only big name was Mario Kart 8 (and to a much lesser extent MGSV:GZ), this year for consoles was much better, Dragon Quest Heroes, Bloodborne, and of course Splatoon made the difference.
