Definitely online simulation games, although puzzle games like candy crush can give them a run for their money.

There are plenty of high quality FPS games that have happened here and there and the recycled ones are still involving to play.

There are plenty of awesome fighting games this gen, and of last gen. Personally I prefer the non traditional ones like SSB and Dissidia.

Sports games have very few once in a lifetime kind of games(if any, I honestly can't think of a legendary sports game, just excellent ones at best), but at least we can look back at some of the 32/64 bit WWF games as well as the earlier WWE PS2 games.

Other sports games I suppose also have their appeal despite being of the lowest common denominator.

Some music games are good, especially Theatrhythm Curtain Call.

Puzzle games are nice to pass the time at work when nothing is going on or you're on break :P
