Splatoon is directly ahead of Dragon Quest X, which is an MMORPG, a genre that is known to be bought digitally (and has reportedly sold over 100k via the eShop).
So the fact that Splatoon has managed to outsell it in under 2 months is impressive, no matter how hard you're trying to spin it.
