Was this the first gen that Nintendo released big titles at reduced prices?

Certain games like Captain Toad weren't sold at regular price because it was not a huge first party game such as Smash, it was something smaller made to fill in a gap between releases. Doesn't mean it's not a good game, just not as big as others.

Seriously, it's not that hard to realize this. People are looking way too deep into things that are simple.
