Think with me, if consoles are usually sold at break even prices, or even lower than production prices, what matters is the software sales! So, the winner of a generation should be the one that sells the most software, not hardware !

And by that logic, xbox 360 won 7th generation !

What you mean is selling more stuff means more profits. So the generation winner in the hardware manufacturer's department is the one that made the most profits. So it goes to Nintendo whatever way you look at it. Nintendo made billions in profit, Sony made a loss, MS broke even-ish. But around here we're mostly interested in who sells the most consoles because a) that means better potential software sales, and b) means better potential for exclusive content from 3rd parties, and c) means more likely to be the lead development platfrom which should mean the least buggy game, and in some cases the better performing game.
