It'll be Nintendo's 9th generation console, as it will be succeeding Nintendo's 8th generation console, which in turn succeeded their 7th generation console. Not sure why it's even being discussed honestly...but maybe the word 'generation' has some definition I'm not familiar with.
That being said, I anticipate this will be debated throughout the system's life.
