Tifa from FF7 isn't my absolute favorite videogame character but she is one that I find very interesting. She's sensitive and rather unsure of herself, yet she is steadfast, brave, and loyal. She was the star of FF7, in my opinion.
Likewise, Celes was my favorite in FF6. Her internal struggles were very compelling. She was a powerful general but she was filled with doubt about what she was doing and about her purpose in life. That story was so wonderfully told.
So, I think a character like that would be one of my protagonists. Resolute on the outside but with their own share of uncertainty. Characters like that, who are brave and selfless despite their own inner turmoil, interest me greatly.
