What if they are already planning something like that for NX? Some signs point to that being a possibility.

Nikkei rumors state NX will be Android-based.

Miyamoto stated they are not interested in high-end specs.

Iwata said they plan on surprising with NX.

Mobile games/apps are meant to provide advertising for NX.

What this could point to is a weak, casual focused, gimmick based console.

I mean, I don't think that will be the case. The Nikkei rumors were proven false. Miyamoto isn't making hardware decisions. Surprising doesn't mean weak. Mobile games aren't telling of the NX's hardware, but of Nintendo's brand expansion. I just don't see Nintendo making that sort of backseat console just yet. After the NX fails, absolutely. But not before one final swing.

All companies deny rumors whether or not they are true, they won't announce something until they are ready to announce.

Miyamoto isn't making the decisions, that however doesn't thane the fact that he said, "WE don't care about high-specs" key word is we as in Nintendo.

I didn't say surprising meant weak, although it along with saying things like new ways to play imply a new type of gimmick.

Iwata has said their mobile endeavors are going to be used as a way to promote and spread awareness of their dedicated gaming devices. Who primarily plays mobile games? Casuals, so it's a strong possibility they are aiming at them.

A weak, casual focused, gimmick based console is a very strong possibility and personally I'm fine with that. People give Wii a lot of shit but it had a ton of great games.
