Nintendo and it's games for the last half decade are arguably not that influential anymore. So their not necessarily in direct competition with Sony and Microsoft. However, if NX (whatever it is) became a financial disaster, it could potentially have a negative impact on Ninty's software and support, even in the handheld space (which currently sits at about 53m). And that effects the people who mainly use Sony and Microsoft consoles and use a Nintendo console/handheld as a secondary gaming device.
