A price cut now, is useless. Sales are not bad and in fact are up significantly year-over-year.
It may boost sales from GTA, but that will only be for a few weeks which may result in 100,000 total extra consoles. Then, MGS4 will come out and things will slow down again.
Also, sales right now are nothing compared to the Fall and Christmas time frame, so a price cut then may mean 100,000 every two weeks and last longer if timed properly and exclusive games get great reviews. It is not like PS3 has any chance of of beating the 360 in total sales anytime soon. At 10-50K per week in NA it will be a very long time before PS3 takes a lead over 360 in total NA sales. By then, the PS5, XBox 1080, Nintendo Zii will be out.
