Sorry but 2d plattformer games like Donkey Kong: TF or Lego games arnt AAA that could compete in any possible way to a 3d mario or assassins creed.

They're AAA, they sold for $60 and TF was regarded as a big exclusive. So if all AAA cartoon style games sold over 2 mil? So you're really saying the Wii U only has 6 AAA games with a cartoonish art style? 

Donkey Kong got any big marketing?

60$ games are not = AAA title (for me). AAA is the best of the best with biggest marketing and alot people working ot the games. A 2d plattformer can never be a aaa title in my opinion in todays times. 

Its alot easier to make a 2d Mario game then to make a 3d mario game. Im sure a 3d donkey kong would also sell alot more.

 

Mario is really the only 2d plattformer that still have good sales.
