Looks like they've found a way to remedy the problem amirite 
. I think I'll write an article and call it "Pastorizing the Church"
In all seriousness I imagine this is what went through his mind:
"Hey I know let's stop flaming gay people and start flaming ourselves! Literally! That will show them who is being reasonable here!"
